Galatea Lakes Hike via Lillan Lake

  • Hike length: 17km
  • Elevation gain: 838m
  • Difficulty: Moderate till Lillian Lake and Hard after that
  • Highlights: Waterfalls, canyon, 10 bridges, stunning 3 lakes (all unique colors)

This is one of our most favorites hikes !

We cross 10 beautiful bridges and reach the green lake called Lillian lake. And then a climb to reach the lower Galatea lake which is so blue and beautiful as if someone poured buckets of blue ink in it ! The upper Galatea lake is a bit greenish and so serene and peaceful.

Checkpoints:

  • 10 wooden bridges across the waterfalls/canyon (distance between bridge 4 and 5, I believe is the longest)
  • view of Lillian lake when you climb further up
  • Galate lake 1
  • Galate lake 2

Below I have the details of the trail and the journey:

The first section to reach Lillian Lake is a moderate trail with beautiful 10 bridges, waterfalls and lush green forests. After the Lillian Lake, some steep section until you come out of the tree line. Steep section continues in open vistas and amazing view of Lillian Lake until you reach lower Galate lake. We walked in the anticlockwise direction to reach the end of Galate lower lake and proceed to upper Galate lake. We returned the same way back.
