Bryce Canyon has Spectacular hoodoos formation as a result of erosion and mostly composed of limestone. We had only one day to explore this National Park and we used the Shuttle bus to explore this park. The stops/hikes we chose are as below. There are many other cool hikes like queens garden and peekaboo trail, but we didn’t have time to explore those.
- Bryce point
- Inspiration point
- Sunset point and hike Navajo loop
- Sunrise point (walk from Sunset point to Sunrise point via Rim Trail)
How the name came:
In 1875, a Scottish immigrant, Ebenezer Bryce, and his family joined other settlers in the valley to the east. To access timber, he built a rode that ended in an amphitheater of pink cliffs. Others started calling it “Bryce’s Canyon”. Bryce and his family moved to Arizona in 1880 never anticipating his name would remain over a century later
How did this unique rock formations happen:
Bryce point
Parking at the visitor center, hopped onto the shuttle to first explore the furthest point – Bryce point which provide a grand amphitheater view of the Bryce Canyon.
Inspiration point
From Bryce point we then hopped on/hopped off the Shuttle to Inspiration point. This viewpoint also provides grand amphitheater view of the Bryce Canyon.

Navajo Loop Hike
Navajo loop hike (1.3mi round trip) in Bryce Canyon National Park is one of the most magical hikes we have ever done. Walking amidst the red tall hoodoos formations was so fascinating. We did the loop counterclockwise starting at Wall Street, walking down the switchbacks.
A couple of landmarks to check out on way:
- 2 bridges
- Thor’s hammer.
First section of Navajo loop is the downhill switchbacks of “Wallstreet“.
The second section is out in the open and includes the “Two Bridges” view point.
Third section is the switchback climb back to Sunset point which has Thor’s Hammer viewpoint

That ends our day in Yellowstone National Park.
Finally, the tour bus in Yellowstone matches with the color of the canyon.
