Here are some recommendations for sightseeing in Canmore.
- Grassi Lakes and Whitemans Pond
A short easy hike (total to and fro about 4km) to reach a few beautiful small lakes. There is both an easy route and a more difficult route. Easy route takes you straight to the lakes, while the difficult route also passes a waterfall and a great view of Canmore and the reservoir. The start of the hike is on the 742 highway past Canmore Nordic center. There is a pretty good parking lot although it can be full during the summer months.
Above the lakes, if you do a short climb you can reach the Whitemans pond (which also can be reached by the road if you continue past the Grassi lake parking lot).
- Quarry Lake
A quiet and beautiful small lake to spend some relaxing time. This lake is also on highway 742 and is before the Canmore Nordic center.
